Heather Rae's Comfort Cookin' Restaurant
About This Spot
Heather Rae's Comfort Cookin' Restaurant is one of those genuine Southern spots where the rhythm of the day slows down just enough for you to settle in and savor a meal that feels like home. Nestled along Andrew Jackson Highway in Delco, this family-friendly eatery makes no pretense about what it is: a welcoming place to gather, share simple joys, and enjoy hearty food prepared with care.
When you walk in, there’s an unhurried, easygoing vibe that invites you to find your own nook. Ordering at the counter and helping yourself to a drink encourages a casual, come-as-you-are experience. The friendly, hardworking staff move with purpose but always wear a warm smile, making the space feel like a well-loved community stop rather than a typical diner.
The menu echoes the kind of comfort Southern cooking is known for, with down-to-earth meals designed to satisfy whether you’re stopping by for breakfast or a filling dinner. The smell of fresh biscuits, the sight of perfectly cooked eggs, or the invitation of a juicy ribeye steak on the plate creates a quietly joyful atmosphere around every table. These are dishes that don’t rush you through the day but instead offer a small moment of pause and nourishment.
Even as the place hums with local energy—visitors, families, and regulars passing through—the atmosphere is neither noisy nor bustling. It’s relaxed, familiar, with a timeless quality that encourages you to lean back and enjoy the simplicity of good food and good company. Heather Rae’s is exactly the kind of roadside gem where people find themselves unexpectedly charmed and eager to return.

I found this place on Google maps and decided to stop. You order at the counter, get your drink and seat yourself. My sister and I both ordered the breakfast specials with gravy and biscuits. Biscuits were wonderful but the gravy was the same gravy as for the Cube Steak. Don't get me wrong, it was tasty gravy but not for breakfast. Everything else was good. While eating we noticed other diners finishing up and they carried their plates to a table beside a garbage can (like in school or a cafeteria). Good food, nice environment just odd service

Not alone of atmosphere but who cares! Great food. Great find. We'll be back if we get around here again. Nice friendly staff. Obvious they work hard to please. Stnop here for Great cheeseburgers!

The food was fresh and came out quick after placing my order. Would definitely come back here when I'm in the area again.

Let me start with saying the breakfast food is amazing! If we lived here, this would be our spot. The prices are awesome too. So when we walked in we didn’t really know what to do. You’ll order at the counter and then find a place to sit. Get your own drinks. They will bring out the food. This is a very different set up BUT the people are SO friendly and like I said the food was so good! The biscuits and gravy were the best we’ve had during our week visit in NC. The grits are good too. Oh and the biscuits…YUM! Good portions too. Try this place! Okay I’m done.

Wonderful travel stop! Great food and fantastic service with a smile! Will return when passing by to try the breakfast! Best Mountain Dew fountain ever! Better than BOJ!

Great place for a quick lunch. Best okra I've ever had. Fresh and made in house. Chicken sandwich was big and perfectly fried. Don't waste your time anywhere else, get here!

When going west on 74, this is our go to for breakfast. Huge omelettes, served with toast or biscuit. Coffee is hot and fresh. You busy your own table when you are done. Simply delicious.

above average price for big juicy flavorful burgers. And I love the crinkle cut fries with seasoned salt. Small and quaint simple sit down spot that's quiet
